Kaa was born in 1979 and was raised in Lebanon. Expatriated to France in 1989, and completed his studies there. Influenced by music from a young age, he began by taking piano lessons, moving on to assembling a rock band during his adolescent years, where he was the lead guitar player and the singer. In 1993 he discovered electronic music through pioneer artists such as Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers. Going deeper into this genre, he found himself leaning towards Drum’n’Bass, and later discovered psychedelic trance while touring festivals. In 1998 Kaa decided to take his career seriously, where he started learning how to DJ by playing in various events. 1999 was the year he and his Lebanese friends started promoting the electronic scene in his native land by founding the Beirut Underground (Bug System) project, the purpose of this project being to promote the electronic scene in Lebanon through organizing unique events in the Middle East.

Having studied drawing and graphic design in a school of visual arts, Kaa launched Visual Suspects in 2001, a project of VJing and graphics. Indeed, according to his philosophy image and music are two elements that are directly linked. He assembled his studio in 2004 and began his electronic music training, while experimenting with the use of oriental sounds.

These two musical and graphic projects merged to give ‘DVJ Kaa’, consequently making him the first to initialize a new and single performance of a DJ and a VJ, i.e. the DVJing; a mix of music and visuals completely synchronized.

Following the path of his ancestors the Phoenicians, Kaa performed in many countries, he traveled to Mexico, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, France, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, and Hungary’

He has spun with many icons in the electronic scene such as Francesco Farfa, Tall Paul, Silicon Sound, Total Eclipse, Absolum, Talamasca, Nomad, Jaia, Eskimo, Triskell, Digital Talk, Dimitri, Psyside, Triptych, L’Elf, Skazi’

Kaa also played in prestigious venues such as The Mass and the University of London in the United Kingdom, Gibus, Batofar, at the Divan du Monde and the Locomotive in Paris, in B018, Orange Mecanique and Black Box in Beirut, and played in large scale events such as the Techno Parade in Paris and the Street Parade in Bologna, and he was showcased in the labels 3D Vision and Moon Spirits records at the Champ-Elysées’ Fnac.

Kaa was part of the legendary UK label: Transient Records, promoting it all over the world. He is currently with Exposure Productions, the same label to which the famous project Wizzy Noise belongs.

"Watch the Music, Hear the Visions"

Francais

Nate Raubenheimer started out his music career at the tender age of seven when he received his first electronic keyboard. He went on to discover jazz and classical music before becoming obsessed with synthesizers, computers and electronic music. His musical explorations have taken him through many different styles of music including breaks, house and electro.

After finishing school, with a background of basic music studies and personal experience with computer recording, he went on to study sound engineering at Cape Town City Varsity. There he worked on many aspects of modern sound recording and engineering, from film to live band recordings before finding his place in the psy trance scene. He was first introduced to the music by Regan and Gareth Tacon, currently co-owners of Nano Records. Before even attending one of the much talked about South African outdoor parties, he wrote his first single, ?superhighway samurai?. The track was picked up by DJ Anti, and was released on Mechanism, a compilation by Sweden?s Spiral Trax Label Group. His sound was instantly recognizable as his signature style, a blend of full on grooves, progressive structures, and epic ?morning? melodies.

This sound was refined over the next year, with his signing to Nano Records and the subsequent release of numerous tracks such as "Synergism" and "Ultraphunktional", released on Nano Record's Emergence Compilation, which received much acclaim after its initial release just before the European summer in 2001. Following the overnight success of Emergence, "New Directions" on Nano Record's "Dilations" compilation was a turning point for Nate. This can still be regarded as was finished and released on Nano's follow up, "Dilations". This is Nate's most celebrated track to date, and received much acclaim worldwide.

The debut album, Refractions, followed closely afterwards, featuring dance floor success's such as "Melody Machine", "Avalon", and a remix of the aforementioned "New Directions". With the success of the album, Nate's career as a live performer and dj, took off at great speed. After numerous parties in South Africa, he first headed off to England for the acclaimed Glastonbury Music Festival. This festival plays host to hundreds of acts and draws crowds in excess of 150 000 people every year. Gigs in Japan followed, as well as extensive tours in Europe, including France, Spain, Holland, Germany, Portugal, Denmark and others. To date he has played on every major continent, and received much praise for his energetic and emotional live shows. He has appeared along side dj and artists outside of the psy trance scene such as Sasha, Timo Maas, Anthony Papa, Orbital, Aphex Twin, Square Pusher, Richy Horton, and others.

Nate has also worked on other projects including his dj compilation, "Natural Selection" on Nano Records, as well as Ghost, a side project focusing on breaks and ambient, as well as forming half of the Silver Surfers. His releases can be seen on many labels including Mind Control, Phonokol, Alchemy, Exposure, Compakt, Proton, Light Music Japan, Turbo Trance and others. Further collaborations include work with Tristan, Hydrophic, Pogo, and Rinkadink, as well as remixes for Silicon Sounds, Sesto Sento and D-Nox and Beckers, amongst many others.

The new album from Protoculture, "Circadians" is currently in the pipeline and should be available towards the end of 2005.

Alternative Control (Serbie)

Alternative control (ex Chromatoner) are Toprek Goran a.k.a. Toca and Rastko Palikuca both from Serbia. Toca has been producing music since 1997 and from 1999 he started a project called "Manifest" with a friend. This was a dark, groovy Psy-Trance project that became the first Serbian project with a high level of production. Rastko joined Toprek in producing music when he was only 18 years old, so for him it was a first experience in the electronic trance scene and after one year of hard work and a lot sweat in the studio, Rastko and Toca decided to make a new project called “Chromatoner”. This came as a big surprise for their fellow countryman due to the high level of sophistication of their music. Adding Toprek's experience to Rastko organized and methodic skills the project emerged as being totally different from “Manifest” moving rapidly into a morning groovy sound with full-on tunes inspired by the likes of Silicon Sound, Protoculture and GMS. They started to grow very fast musically. During the promotion tour for “Chromatoner” in their country they played at a party with Nomad and some other big parties in several Serbian cities attracting attention from overseas labels. Their music being so fresh an innovative they managed to sell their first tracks to labels like Phonokol ,and Inpsyde media. Upon realizing that a similar act called “Chromaotne” (Lawrence) was already on the market and had released tracks before them they decided to change their name into" Alternative Control" continuing to produce morning psy-trance, with colorful baselines and spacious melodies. VERY EMOTIONAL After having released their first tracks on Phonokol Records, Inpsyde Media, Pukka Musica, Sphere Records, Soular Records and having had a few collaborations projects with already well known artist from the scene like Bizarre Contact, Pop Stream and Cyrus the Virus, their first album "ALT+CTRL"as just been be released on VISION QUEST RECORDS.

Dj Mael - France

Farid Merbouche was born in France in 1974, preferring playing guitar than going to school, he started djing in Paris , from hardcore scene to trancecore in the 90's. Mael became here quickly one of the good names of the “Parisian” scene. Bringing his personality with a special technique of mixing Psytrance Vinyls, when DAT tapes were the only way to communicate this music…

After this relation with the dancefloor Mael investigate himself into the music production to finalize a dream: create his own music!

In 1996 , Mael created a band with Lestat aka Talamasca and christof drouillet , who was the half of the well known band Transwave , and who was just beginning his solo project called Absolum, to make together this incredible full on music under the name of 'Elixir'.

They decided together in 1998 to create a French label: 3D Vision arrived on the scene, and have been quickly respected all over the world , bringing Mael to play dj sets for the 3d vision in every possible corner of the globe like Tokyo, Newyork, TelAviv, Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, Australia, India, and all Europe...

"Nomad", Mael's solo project, appears in 1998. 2 albums: 'Hyperactive' which was released in October 2001, and second: 'Mad attack' two years later in October 2003, both on the 3d vision label (plus a full discography in many compilations.)

After those two albums , Mael had left in 2004,the trance scene, to make an other label called Hoots records ; label more orientated in a lounge atmospheric music , with a fusion between electronic and acoustic instruments, but also much more various style like House, Trip-Hop,....the first release of this label , 'Electronic Summer in Corsica' , including his own production under the name "Nomadbrothers" , in collaboration with a panel of talented acoustic musicians, that is perfect for his personal style. This project is an opportunity for him to express an other side from himself to music ( to follow ...),

But in 2004, after 6 years in collaboration with 3d vision, 5 years under the name Nomad, and djing for 13 years all over the world, Mael take place with a different color of music, more positive and more groovy stuff, a Mix between his DJ Experience and his Musical Influences. A long work in studios, to reach a more sofisticated sound, and to give again some more emotions.

So, in the same time, with Talamasca, they decide to join their forces together for creating the new French label, "Mindcontrolrecords".
